Futures Group Promotes Ed Abel to Chief Operating Officer

Futures Group, an international development firm known for an evidence-based, integrated approach to improving the health and well-being of people worldwide, announces the promotion of Edward Abel to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He will be primarily responsible for general management of the operations of the business globally, including general business operations, program operations, facilities, information technology, knowledge management, corporate communications, and business development.

“Ed’s experience in technical, operational, and management disciplines make him superbly qualified to provide oversight to how we operate our programs,” said Chris LeGrand, Chief Executive Officer of Futures Group, adding “he understands the needs and nuances of running programs in the field.”

Mr. Abel has spent his entire career in international development, 28 years of it with Futures Group. Throughout his career, he has specialized in applying modern technologies for modeling and assessing the impacts of population growth on social and economic outcomes. He also has recognized expertise in the strategic use of data for informed decisionmaking in development. More recently, Mr. Abel has served in various capacities of increasing responsibility including regional director for Futures Group’s Asia/Near East portfolio, and most recently Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Abel holds a bachelors degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Public Administration.
